A bit of magic

Tiny details bring out the magic in our daily routines. Lichen on trail-side branches, Redwoods glowing in dusky light, sprouting bulbs in garden beds that simply cannot wait one moment longer for Spring. Morning magic is found in the pair of mourning doves outside my window, the neighborhood bustle at 8:00 am, and cats dozing on front stoops in the light just breaking through this coastal fog.

It is good and necessary to remember the magic on days when I'm feeling lackluster. On days when I just want to get off my feet and have no energy to "be inspired". Because these long, plodding days will surely come and go. And then I'm reminded (thank you, Mr. Priestley) that tomorrow will be waiting with her bit of magic. How could I forget?
